A legacy, left in the veld
Born in the rugged heart of the Klein Karoo, Let It Bee began with a true South African man who wants to leave a legacy for his family — something pure, lasting, and rooted in nature.
Here, in a land of sharp contrasts, life finds its own rhythm. The sun burns by day, the nights cool the earth, and hardy wildflowers like the protea and vygie bloom despite the dryness. From these resilient blossoms comes the nectar of the Karoo — rare, rich, and full of character.

Like the man who started it, our bees work through the harshness, drawing sweetness from challenge. Every jar of Let It Bee is a tribute to that spirit — of endurance, beauty, and legacy — crafted slowly and with care, the way nature intended.
What makes it different
The Karoo nectar
No two harvests here are the same. The veld gives what the season allows — a few weeks of one bloom, a week of another — and whatever the bees find is what ends up in the jar. This is honey with a vintage.
Protea
Deep bracts that open only in the cool months, and only for a few weeks. The nectar is dense, slow-gathered and darker than most.
Vygie
After good rain the vygies flare open across the veld for days at a time. They lend the honey its bright, resinous edge.
Karoo fynbos & wildflowers
Small, aromatic, stubborn things — renosterbos, kapokbos, wild sage. Together they build a depth no one can plant for.
The safest home we can give them
Our hives
The bees come first, so the hive is not a place to save money. We keep our colonies in Beebunka hives — insulated, sealed and built for African conditions rather than adapted to them. It costs more. It is the right call.
Insulated walls hold the brood steady through Karoo days that swing from hard heat to cold night.
Sealed against ants, wax moth and damp, so a colony spends its energy on comb instead of defence.
Made for sun, wind and dust — the materials do not warp, split or cook in the Karoo summer.
Built for calm inspection, which means we open the hive less often and disturb less when we do.
